Soul Restoration Q & A

Wondering About Soul Restoration?

Choosing a retreat is personal. Here are a few answers to help you get a feel for the experience—and whether it might be right for you.

What is the Soul Restoration Retreat?

Soul Restoration is a four-day retreat that helps women get unstuck, recognize their strengths and possibilities, and find their way forward. Through guided soul work, structured exercises, and creative activities, we explore the beliefs and messages that leave us feeling less than we are—and begin to recognize what is true about our strengths, gifts, and possibilities.

It’s a chance to remember what brings you joy, what you want for your life, and the dreams you may have set aside. Along the way, you’ll build practical tools and find encouragement to make choices that feel right for you.

The work is deeply meaningful, but it’s also fun, thought-provoking, and relatable—with friendship and encouragement woven into the experience.

Who is this retreat for?

This retreat is for women who feel overwhelmed, worn out, or unsure what comes next. It’s for women experiencing anxiety, feelings of depression, self-doubt, or the weight of everyday stress. Some may be moving through a difficult life transition; others may feel stuck, have lost sight of what brings them joy, or have spent so much time taking care of everyone else that their own needs have slipped to the bottom of the list.

You don’t need to have everything figured out—or a dramatic story to tell. You’re welcome to come with questions, curiosity, and a wish to make some room for yourself.

What will we actually do?

Our days follow the Soul Restoration curriculum, with guided soul work and creative activities that help you recognize the beliefs that hold you back, remember your strengths and possibilities, and find your way forward. We follow a full, structured schedule, with time thoughtfully built in for reflection, rest, meals, and play.

Our talented yoga instructor will offer an optional beginner-friendly session of gentle stretching and relaxation. We’ll also enjoy a guided nature immersion experience, explore some art therapy techniques, spend time journaling, experience the sound and vibrations of Tibetan singing bowls, and more. We’ll also include a short introduction to meditation and mindfulness led by a gifted practitioner.

We offer a variety of approaches because everyone learns differently. You’ll have opportunities to discover what works for you and bring home a personal collection of tools and strategies to draw on when the rough days come.

Do I need to be artistic?

Not a bit. The creative projects are part of how we learn and remember the Soul Restoration lessons. You’ll make personal reminders of the truths you want to hold onto, the beliefs you’re ready to challenge, and the changes you want to make. They’re things you can take home and return to when everyday life makes those lessons harder to remember.

You don’t need art experience, special supplies, or the ability to draw a straight line. We’ll provide the materials and guidance.

What if I’m nervous about coming—meeting new people, trying unfamiliar things, or not knowing what to expect?

Making this kind of commitment to yourself can bring up doubts and insecurities. You may be wondering whether you’ll fit in, what the activities will be like, or how to step away from everyone who needs you. You don’t have to arrive feeling brave or confident. Questions, hesitation, and a few butterflies are welcome, too.

Before you arrive, we’ll help you prepare by sharing what to expect, answering questions, and introducing you to the other women in your group. Once we’re together, we guide you through each part of the program with thoughtful, personal attention. You won’t be expected to walk in knowing what to do.

This is a no-shame, no-blame environment. No special skills, perfect outfit, or impressive introduction required. Our different ages, backgrounds, appearances, and circumstances all belong here.

Every day, we renew our shared commitments to strict confidentiality, kindness, respect, and support without judgment. We work carefully to build trust, protect emotional safety, and help everyone feel accepted and cared for.

Still have a worry we haven’t mentioned? Please ask us. We’re happy to talk it through.

What if the work brings up strong feelings—will I have to share personal things, and what if I cry or feel overwhelmed?

You don’t have to hold everything together here. Tears and other feelings are welcome, and there’s no shame in any of your emotions. You choose how much of your personal story to share. There’s never pressure to disclose more than you want to.

Soul Restoration unfolds like a journey. It requires radical honesty with yourself and a willingness to look at the messy parts of life—the beliefs, experiences, and feelings that keep you stuck. That work can be challenging, and we’ll guide you through it with compassion and support. We won’t simply bring you into that difficult space and leave you there; we’ll help you move through it toward insight, truth, and the beautiful possibilities for your life.

This isn’t a fluffy pep rally experience. It’s meaningful soul work, with depth and purpose. The program is designed to support real, lasting personal growth.

We also explore ways to show empathy and offer support while respecting our own emotional boundaries. We care for one another without taking on each other’s burdens. Each day, we renew our shared commitments to strict confidentiality, kindness, respect, and support without judgment. We take care to build trust so that feelings can be met with compassion, without pressure to explain or embarrassment about having them.

Is Soul Restoration therapy?

Soul Restoration is a personal growth retreat, not psychotherapy or medical care. Although Kat is a licensed psychotherapist, attending the retreat does not create a therapist-client relationship. If you’re unsure whether the experience fits your current needs, you’re welcome to contact Kat before registering.

Who leads the retreat?

Katherine King, ACSW, LCSW (“Kat”) is the Founder and Executive Director of The Blue Blanket. She brings more than 25 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and psychotherapist, including extensive work with grief, trauma, and a wide range of mood and anxiety disorders.

Other members of The Blue Blanket team bring their own talents and expertise to the experience. You can learn more about our team on our About page.

How large is the group?

We plan for approximately 8–10 women. Keeping the group small allows us to personalize the experience and offer each woman the thoughtful attention she deserves. It also helps us create an environment that feels safe, comfortable, and supportive, with room for meaningful connection.

Where are the retreats held?

We’ve held Soul Restoration Retreats in beautiful places across the country, and we’ll continue exploring new venues and locations in the future. Our currently scheduled retreats will take place in Asheville, North Carolina, which is nestled sweetly in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Our retreat space is beautiful, comfortable, private, and right in the heart of downtown Asheville—just steps from restaurants, shops, and hotels. Registered guests will receive our exact location and all the details they’ll need for arrival.

Want a peek at where we’ll spend our time together? Visit our retreat gallery to see our Asheville venue and a few glimpses of the Soul Restoration experience.

When are the retreats?

We’re no longer accepting reservations for October. Our next Soul Restoration Retreat will take place on November 12–15, 2026. Each retreat runs from Thursday through Sunday, with our daily program from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (We may wrap up a little earlier on Sunday to accommodate guests with flights to catch.)

Please arrive committed to being fully present and on time for all our programming. Soul Restoration unfolds as a carefully guided process, with each experience building on what came before. Being there throughout allows you to get the most from this journey.

Your presence also matters to the other women. Arriving on time and participating consistently helps us build trust, emotional safety, and the sense of belonging that makes this shared experience so meaningful. We’ve built in time for rest and play, and our gentle yoga sessions remain optional.

Planning further ahead? We also have seven retreat dates scheduled from April through October 2027.

Is this an overnight retreat?

Our program takes place during the day, and you’ll arrange your own lodging. We’ll provide a curated list of nearby hotels and restaurants, with plenty of options just steps from our retreat space.

After our day together, your evenings are yours to enjoy—head out for dinner with new friends, explore downtown Asheville, or settle in for a quiet night.

What does tuition include?

Your $1,795 tuition includes a structured four-day Soul Restoration program grounded in secular, scientific principles and led by a team of experienced, licensed practitioners.

Our structured curriculum includes guided exercises to help you uncover beliefs that hold you back, identify your strengths, and decide how you want to move forward with your life. You’ll have opportunities to learn and practice coping skills and build a personal collection of strategies to use when difficult days come.

We also incorporate creative projects, a nature immersion experience, a beginner-friendly yoga session, meditation and mindfulness basics, and time to experience the sound and vibrations of Tibetan singing bowls. These experiences offer several ways to learn and discover what works for you.

Your workbook, program materials, and supplies for all scheduled activities are included—from art supplies to yoga mats. You’ll take home your completed projects and materials to help reinforce what you’ve learned—and maybe a few gifts from us, too.

We provide continental breakfasts, lunches, and afternoon refreshments, with time for rest and play built into the schedule. Our small group allows for thoughtful, personal attention and the opportunity to build supportive friendships throughout an experience we hope you’ll never forget.

Lodging, dinners, travel, and local transportation are arranged separately. We’ll share a curated list of hotels just steps away from our retreat space, along with nearby restaurant recommendations. You’ll also have access to the free services of our travel partner, Becky Marchant, who can help with lodging, flights, and transportation. You’re welcome to make your own arrangements, too.

Do I need yoga experience or a certain level of fitness?

No yoga experience is needed. Our gentle, beginner-friendly stretching and relaxation session is optional, and you’re welcome to participate in whatever way feels comfortable for you—even if that means watching everyone else while you eat a muffin. There’ll be no judgment or shaming here.

Our program requires only the ability to sit, stand, and walk very short distances.

If you have questions about mobility, accessibility, or physical comfort, please ask. We’ll talk through your needs and our retreat setting so you can make an informed decision.

What if I have dietary needs or allergies?

Please let us know. After registration, we’ll ask about your dietary needs, allergies, and food preferences so we can prepare for you. We’re generally able to accommodate special diets as long as you let us know ahead of time.

Will I be photographed?

I treasure pictures that bring back the laughter, friendships, and little moments we share. But not everyone feels the same way, and you’re equally welcome in front of the camera or happily out of the frame.

Our sacred sharing time and deep soul work are never photographed, filmed, or recorded. During lighter moments, we may take pictures but only with your permission. We’ll ask for written consent before taking or using any photos of you on our website, social media, or other promotional materials.

Do I need to join Facebook?

No. We offer an optional private Facebook group where you can meet the other women and get ready for our time together.

If Facebook isn’t your thing, that’s perfectly fine. We’ll make sure you receive all the retreat information by email, so you won’t miss anything you need to know.

How do I reserve my spot?

Choose your retreat date on our website and complete your registration through our secure checkout. Tuition is paid in full to reserve your place.

Once you’re registered, we’ll send the details you’ll need to prepare for your retreat. If you have questions along the way, please ask—we’re happy to help.

Reserve your spot.

What if my plans change after I register?

Because we keep our groups small and prepare personally for each guest, retreat tuition is generally nonrefundable.

If a serious illness, accident, or other unexpected circumstance affects your plans, please contact us. We’ll consider exceptions individually, though a refund isn’t guaranteed. A transfer to another retreat may be possible, depending on availability and how much notice we have.

If The Blue Blanket cancels your retreat, you may choose a full refund or a credit toward a future retreat.

What if I’m still unsure whether Soul Restoration is right for me?

You don’t have to decide before asking questions. If you’re curious but hesitant, or there’s something you’d like to understand better, please ask us. We’re happy to talk it through and help you decide whether the retreat feels like a good fit for you.

Send us a note.
